Planning a trip? Do yourself a favor and visit Yosemite National Park located in California. Yosemite is a breathtaking location for any season of the year! Last week my family was there for our annual trip the week before Thanksgiving. It was breathtaking!
In 2009, Yosemite National Park, received 3,866,970 visitors according to the park’s webpage. With those many people visiting the park, planning your trip in advance is a must. Reservations can be made one year to the date of your visit.
If you plan to visit adhere to the rules of the park regarding bears. Yes, bears! Unlike Yellowstone National Park bears, Yosemite bears do see people as a source of food! This fact comes from a long tradition of campers feeding the bears throughout the years. At one time campers gathered at night to turn on car lights and watch the bears eat for entertainment. This is not recommended today. There is a strict bear policy and those that do not follow the rules can pay a hefty price of replacing car parts. From the beginning of the year there have been 427 bear incidents resulting in $102,000 dollars in damage!
The park holds many interesting facts, history and events for all kinds of travelers. The scenic drives, water falls, hikes, museums, and various exhibits are worth many trips to this national wonder.
