What Can Make A Hound Dog Roll Over and Hug a Rabbit? Amy's Ice Cream

What can make a hound dog roll over and hug a rabbit? Amy’s Ice Cream. One evening while working in front of the television Giada, from the food network show Giada’s Weekend Getaways, leapt into my living room as she was visiting Amy’s Ice Cream in Austin, Texas. After Giada made her order, the ice cream server behind the counter dramatically scooped up creamy looking ice cream, mixed it with some cool toppings, tossed it behind his back and caught it with the other hand into a cup! It was like the Benihana’s of ice cream scooping one fan stated! Giada, who looks no bigger than a swivel stick, took the biggest bite I have ever seen as she savored each bite with a look of pure satisfaction. It could not be that good!
I had to try it! Amy’s Ice Cream had all of my attention this past weekend in San Antonio, Texas. Lucky for me Amy’s Ice Cream has five locations. One of them is in San Antonio at the Quarry Market Place on 255 Basse Road. I stayed downtown but the cab ride to get to Amy’s was worth it!
Once in the ice cream shop it was difficult to make a decision, I could have ice cream and toppings, sundae, smoothie or fruit ice.
The standard flavors are: white chocolate, just vanilla, Mexican vanilla, and sweet cream. The other flavors available when I visited were: Belgian chocolate, coffee, peach, cinnamon, blueberry, vanilla cookie, pineapple ice, and Guinness and shiner (both include alcohol). Crush’ns and toppings are heaps of brand candy, cookies, nuts and other stuff that can be chopped up and crushed into your favorite flavor. Fruit Ices are non-dairy frozen low fat desserts made out from fruit, fruit juices, sugar and water. It was time for a taste test. I tasted several different flavors: blueberry, peach and dark chocolate. My taste buds were very happy, each bite was rich, creamy goodness packed with flavor. I finally decided on helpings of vanilla cookie, just vanilla and dark chocolate to take back to my hotel to share with others. As I waited for my order; I watched the Benihana high toss and catch, cool.
I am not typically a person that likes sweets but once I started eating this ice cream, I couldn’t stop until it was all gone! It was so creamy, flavorful, and not too sweet! What do they put in that stuff? According to Amy’s website, the ice cream is super premium which means it starts with 14% butter fat and can rise as high as 20%! I was back for more on the way to the airport!
This time I went for a dark chocolate and coffee mix with recess cup and chocolate chips! I watched it chopped, mixed and thrown with perfection. It tasted absolutely heavenly. Unbelievable! I am glad I live several states away.
If in Houston, Austin or San Antonio, Texas do yourself a favor go check out Amy’s Ice Cream, you will roll over and hug your worst enemy.
