Story

So sitting on my couch playing force unleashed I am reminded of the fact that Star Wars is based on George Lucas's interest in Joseph Campbell's "The Hero with a Thousand Faces" a work on the universallity of storytelling and it got me thinking about story.
I mean what are we doing in entertainment every day if not engaging in story. Infact we are surrounded by Story and all this is from a very ancient and primal part of our culture man has been telling stories since the dawn of time and the Storyteller is one of the most sacred roles in our society. Something that we have forgotten in some ways.
So I came to thinking about story because I have just realized that Ill have to start my novel again almost a word one square one re write that is a realization that can be a bit demoralizing.
But if it makes a better book I suppose it will be worth it. But I am faced with many months of writing before me and it is almost like climbing the mountain again.
Sigh, I intend to start working on my novel once I finish the serial for the blog so I am thinking that I might start posting word count when i update my blog.
Also cool news. I will have my first interview in the next month or so. I have been in touch with an artist that I admire very much and all things going well I should have an interview up here on the site in the next month or so.
Read of the Week
Plot - By Ansen Dibell A fine book on one of the cornerstones of the writing craft. A great read worth tracking down
View of the Week
Mirrormask A film of pure untapped imagination. A great engaging film worth the price of admission
Game of the Week
Force Unleashed is still on high rotation on my PS3. But for a game that is pure Story Vampire the Masquerade - White Wolf Games This is now released as Vampire the Requiem but if you can find Vampire the Masquerade 2nd Edition the I recommend it. This is a horror game all about character and story. You play as a vampire who must maintain the Masquerade a practice that has helped vampires survive for thousands of years by pretending to be human.
Great game.
