Sci-Fi Drag Queens? RuPaul Takes on Space Travel!

March 26th 2011 04:17

Queens in Space was episode three of RuPaul’s Drag Show. What now? The queens face the final frontier as they shoot two out-of-this-world sci-fi movie trailers. Ru told the queens that “…the next Drag Superstar had to prove her charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent was truly out of this world!”

The contestants were divided into two teams, Team Myra and Team Phoenix. These teams took science fiction to a whole new level. With ridiculous costumes and nearly obscene dialogue the queens had to make their space adventure seem realistic. Judges Michelle Visage, singer and TV/radio and guest judge Allesandra Torressani from Caprica & Battlestar Gallactica directed the impossible scenes.

Team Myra won the sci-fi science challenge. Mimi Imfurst, Shangela and Alexis Mateo were picked as the best. There could be only one winner but Ru decided to make it a tie for Shangela and Alexis Mateo. If you have seen the look on a kid’s face as he misses the ice cream truck as it goes around the corner away from his house that was the look on face on Mimi Imfurst.

On the runway each contestant had to create a futuristic look to wow the judges. Some wowed the judges and others, not so much.

This week’s judges were Santino Rice, a fashion designer; Michelle Visage, singer and TV/radio host and special guest judges Lily Tomlin and Allesandra Torressani.

Team Phoenix’s whole team was up for elimination, ouch! The team included: Phoenix, Raja, India Ferrah, Carmen Carrera, Manila Luzon, and Delta Work. Raja was safe from winning a challenge the week before.

The judges bombed on Phoenix, Lilly Tomlin said Phoenix’s character Lady Tata had no spark. Michelle Visage told she Phoenix was the weakest link in the team. Allesandra Torressani chimed in by saying because Phoenix had fewer lines she should have been off the hook, “you just did not commit 150%!” India Ferrah received great props for her futuristic Judy Jetson look. Carmen Carrera had a Saturn looking hairpiece that was glued to her scalp! It was coming off and pulling hair with it! Santino told her the outfit was poorly conceived.

Delta Works and Phoenix were in the bottom two! “Two queens stand before me, ladies this is your last chance to impress me and save your self from elimination! The time has come for you to Lip Sync for your lives! Good Luck and don’t f**k it up!” Ru says dramatically and the lights dim. Bad Company by Lady Gaga was the lip Sync challenge. Phoenix tried to do Lady Gaga, not a good idea. Delta Works kicked ass! Delta Work Shante You Stay. Phoenix Sashay Away.
