On Keeping a blog

February 15th 2009 12:50
So from what I can tell the audiance for my blog is other bloggers. It seems to me that most people who keep a blog on orble are the readers of other blogs so I wonder how the others keep to the weekly schedule.

I write this blog once a week and I wanted to do it on the weekend but now I do the blog on sunday night late just before I go to bed.

I find that this is good but it is also a bit of a pain to sit down on a sunday night and come up with a subject for the latest post I look at the output on other blogs and wonder how my fellow orble posters come up with a subject to fill a blog.

I dont want the blog to be a place to talk about all the menial things that happen in my life.

I mean I dont want to do a blog post on my what I did to my toenails

So I suppose this is the moment when I open the blog to my readers to ask when they write there blog how do they come up with it.

Read of the Week

Thor by J. Michael Straczynski this is a great comic. Fantasy with comic book fun.

Great read.

View of the Week
Underworld 3 - a great film much better than the last film a lot of fun.

Game of the Week
Mutants and Masterminds
A great super heroes rpg.

I think it is different for every blogger. Sometimes it is just based on conversations we have with some of our mates or articles we have read.

Some bloggers do very specific posts because their blogs are about a specific subject which is probably the best way to go if you have either a hobby or a very specialised interest.

Otherwise, it's just about anything!

I specifically did not want my blog to follow a topic - I want to be free to change it. My most informative posts would be my art and sketching stuff - examining my own work and art itself, book reviews, important quotes, poetry, my own and analysis of others, and spells and witchcraft.

Without doubt, my most popular posts are those where I analyse TV and music. That just kind of disgusts me, even though I really enjoy doing it, I think I should be getting just as many hits on literature/philosphy posts.

Right now, Im not working, so its easy to post all the time, and I do so many worthless posts. I have friends who read, and regular readers, and these people enjoy my rants on daily life and what my animals get up to.

FYI....I once did a post entirely devoted to my toe.....It was a winner!

When Im working, I just squeeze in posts whenever I get time. I pre date at least 3 on a Sunday - using the 'display time' function I set them to come up throughout the week in case I dont get back to the computer, but I still usually manage to get back to it after work sometime. I subscribe to my fave bloggers so I dont have to go hunting to vote for them.
