So we have a true honest to god fantasy series starting in the US on the 1st of November and I have to admit that I am curious.
Based on Wizards First Rule a series by Terry Goodkind. A series that have a very serious reputation, they have a violent sadistic bent.
They are produced by Sam Rami a man who produced Xena and Hercules and directed the Spiderman films.
Now I have that drive that you get when you find out a film is coming out when you feel the need to read the book before you see the film.
In a previous post I did talk about books to film and I think that this one is a lightning rod because you have what could potentially be a cheesy series and be rejected by fans or serious and rejected by the general audience.
I hope that it finds an audience and runs for a while because I could really use a weekly dose of good fantasy.
This is also that first Fantasy TV show. We will soon get A song of Ice and fire by George R R Martin from HBO.
Will we get good TV? Will we get a long running series like Lost or Battlestar? Or are we going to get another firefly.
