Just when you thought RuPaul’s Drag Show had done it all there is always more. This week the queens Face, Face the Cakes as the contestants are challenged to find fashion inspiration from the world of cakes.
Eight queens are left in the competition. The rivalries have started with four of the queens crowning themselves Heathers from the cult movie from. This really seems childish and immature but the four: Raja, Carmen Carrera, Delta Works and Manila wear the determination with pride. They consider themselves the serious drag queens and the others, Boogers.
RuPaul informed the queens that the next drag superstar must be able to serve it without wigs, padding, etc. The mini challenge is to pose in a feminine portrait in the nude! Delta Works, one of the plus side queens, said her heart stopped when she heard Ru say nude. Delta also mentioned she doesn’t even like to have sex naked. Stacy Lanye Matthews, another plus size queen, could not imagine taking off her cloths at her size.
Celebrity photographer Debra Anderson will take the photos. The contestants can wear light make-up and had to be ready to shoot in 10 minutes. Each queen had the choice of using a piece of fabric for the nude photo. Carmen Carrea won the challenge.
The main challenge was to design a high fashion couture designer dress inspired by a cake (cheese cake, lava cake, pineapple upside down cake, strawberry short cake, red velvet cake, carrot cake, angel food cake and princess cake). Carmen the winner of the mini challenge was able to assign the cakes.
Stacy Layne Matthews was clueless about the word couture.. (The term couture means a worn piece of art.) Stacy is from Back Swamp, North Carolina were high fashion my not be up to New York standards. She struggled with the main challenge.
In addition to finishing the dresses the queens had to decorate a cake that would edible accessories to the couture outfits! Starting with a naked cake and a look -a-like doll the icing on the cake should represent each contestant’s charisma, nerve, and talent. The cake extravaganza ensemble will be unveiled on the main stage.
This week’s judges are Michelle Visage, singer and TV/radio host; Billy B, well known make-up artist and special guest actresses Eliza Dushku and Sara Rue.
Yara Sofia, a seamstress, had the most beautiful dress. The judges bombed on her because her undergarment. It was truly beautiful. Raja’s lava cake presentation was good except for her white bloomers showing as she walked the runway. After the runway and cake presentations the dogs were let out as queens were asked in front of all who should go home. Let the attacks begin! It was ugly.
The judges did not like Yara’s dress but Billy B thought her make up was great. Billy B said Stacy’s performance and runway was awful. Alexis Matao’s dress was described as a bed spread from Motel 6.
Billy B thought Shanegla does not know how to wear her make up. Michelle Visages said Shanegla does not live to be a drag queen.
Based on the face of cakes presentations, Stacy’s Red Velvet cake did not make the cake she is up for elimination. Camera’s princess cake and Alexis Mateo’s cheesecake was not well received. Shangela was told her was a disaster with a sewing machine. In the end Alexis Mateo and Stacy Lynne Matthews were up for elimination.
“Two queens stand before me, ladies this is your last chance to impress me and save yourself from elimination. The time has come for you to Lip Sync for your lives and don’t f**k it up!” The lip sync song was Amii Stewart’s, Knock On Wood. Alexis torn it up! Alexis Shante you stay! Stacy Layne Matthews Shasay away!
