Australia a review

Ok so there is this thing that gets me STEAMED. Very, very, very mad. I mean hulk out angry. That is when people know that a film is bad but they haven't seen it. They don't want to see it because Nicole Kidman annoys them. That it has bad reviews. Ect. The amazing other half said that she wanted to see Australia but then as it got closer she was convinced that it was going to be bad because it had got bad reviews.
So it took some doing but last night I took the amazing other half to see Australia.
So my single line review is FANTASTIC.
I love this movie. First I will qualify my review with what this movie is not. It is not a searing drama on the plight of indigenous Australians. It is not a realistic portrayal of the peoples of Australia in 1940's NT.
If that is what you are looking for then go see another film.
If you are looking for a sweeping romantic epic. Then go see Australia. If you saw and loved Titanic then go see Australia. If you want an aussie film to do well so that we can make more epics, go see Australia. If you wish that they could make more romantic adventure films. Go see Australia. If you want a film that has rose tinted glasses but still treats our indigenous inhabitants with respect. Go see Australia.
If you want a film that deals with the tragedy of the Stolen Generation go see 'Rabbit Proof Fence.' Australia is not for you. But if you want a fantastic Romantic adventure then go see Australia.
This is a companion to Moulin Rouge! and Strictly Ballroom then go see Australia it is that kind of movie.
And for all those that say it is long know that yes it is long but I can tell you it was a great way to spend the time and when i came out I didnt feel it was too long. This movie felt full and I felt like i got my money's worth.
This is a film that will be looked upon more favorably as more people go to see it.
This is a great movie and Baz I have to say please make more. Australia needs more epics so that we can have our story heard on the world stage.
I give Australia a solid 8 out of 10.
